You might want to stock up on tissue before Dec. 10. That’s when NBC will air Dolly Parton’s semi-autobiographical movie Coat of Many Colors, and from the looks of the trailer, you might drop a tear or two when you watch it.
Jennifer Nettles is almost unrecognizable and absolutely riveting as she sheds the high-glam makeup of her recent appearances in Chicago on Broadway and affects a Blue Ridge Mountain accent to play the role of Dolly’s mother Avie. Co-star Alyvia Alyn Lind is the perfect little Dolly with the same sparkling energy of the country music legend and Ricky Schroder is the strong patriarch of the family as Robert Lee Parton.
The movie is based on the true story that inspired Dolly’s actual hit single “Coat of Many Colors,” but delves deeper into the country icon’s childhood and musical aspirations.
Don’t forget to watch on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. CT on NBC.
