Lorrie Morgan: “I Want a Grammy and I Want to Be in the Hall of Fame Before I Die”

Lorrie Morgan has spent almost 30 years making music, and she has no plans of retiring anytime soon. After releasing her latest record, Letting Go…Slow in February, the 56-year-old is spending much of her time on the road, while already working on her next set of tunes.

Pam [Tillis] and I are supposed to go in and record another album, Dos Divas Dos. I don’t have any plans on retiring. I really don’t. I don’t know what I would do, if I wasn’t out there singing.”

In addition to some solo shows and concerts with Pam, Lorrie is also performing with her good friends, Joe Diffie and Mark Chesnutt, sharing one stage for several nights.

“That is a show within itself,” she says. “I never know what to expect when they get out there on stage. It’s hilarious. I spend most of my time on the stool, just laughing. I don’t have anything to say. I can’t catch my breath, because they’re hilarious.”

Before Lorrie even considers taking a break, she has a few items she wants crossed off her bucket list first, including industry recognition for Letting Go…Slow.

“I want a Grammy for this album,” she says. “That’s what I want. I want a Grammy and I want to be in the Hall of Fame before I die. Don’t give it to me when I’m gone. I don’t care.”

Lorrie also wants to pave the way for other women, so they won’t have to break down as many doors as she did.

“I would like it to be a little bit easier for women in this industry, to get more sponsors and more things to help us on the road,” she notes. “Hell, give me a whiskey endorsement. I don’t give a damn. It’s just a little bit easier for guys, always has been. It’s a guy’s business. But we have fun. The girls and I have fun, and that’s something they can’t take away from us is our fun.”

Chris Young Earns 3 CMA Award Nominations

Chris Young Earns 3 CMA Award Nominations

Congrats to Chris Young who is a 3-time CMA Award nominee this year.

His song “Famous Friends”, which he sings with Kane Brown, racked up nominations in the categories of Single, Musical Event, and Video of the Year.

Talking about his nominations, Chris says “I was blown away by the fact that there were three award nominations for the song. I mean, there’s so much that’s gone into it and so many people that have fallen in love with it and supported it and, you know, just having a hit with your friend in the first place is great with a song like “Famous Friends” with my buddy Kane Brown, but then to be nominated for three different CMA Awards, including Single of the Year. It’s just incredible.”

Chris, Kane and all the other nominees will learn if they’re taking home trophies, when the 55th Annual CMA Awards are handed out in Nashville on Wednesday November 10 – broadcasted live on ABC.
