Scotty McCreery, Eric Paslay, Ashley Monroe, Jerrod Niemann & More Share Favorite Memorial Day Songs

Memorial Day, celebrated on the last Monday in May, is an opportunity to relax with family and friends while remembering all of the veterans who died serving our great nation. Before you fire up the grill and crack a cold one, take a moment to remember why Memorial Day is observed every year and be sure to thank those you know who serve or have served in our military.

Once you fire up the grill and crack a cold one, turn on those tunes and celebrate the beginning of the summer season. We asked a handful of our favorite country stars to help us create a Memorial Day playlist—songs from any artist or genre that they like to hear while relaxing outside—and here’s what they had to say.

Scotty McCreery
“Summertime” by Kenny Chesney
“Kenny has a bunch of great songs, but ‘Summertime’ is a perfect way to kick off the summer. I know when I am at the beach this weekend, it will definitely be on my playlist. Some of my favorite things about summer are being at the beach, being with friends, watching baseball and just having a great relaxed time. Kenny’s song sums the season up perfectly.”

Eric Paslay
“Riding With Private Malone” by David Ball
“‘Private Malone’ is a great song for Memorial Day because it reminds us about all who have served so we can enjoy freedom. I’m grateful every day that I get to make music because I’m free to do so. Thanks to all who fought and continue to fight for our country.”

Jerrod Niemann
“The Fighting Side of Me” by Merle Haggard
“There’s not a better song that represents how I feel about our military. We are all here doing what we love because of those who died for our freedom. And if Haggard says it, it’s true!”

Ashley Monroe
“Day Drinking” by Little Big Town
“It’s like a choir of angels whenever Little Big Town sings. ‘Day Drinking’ is a great tune to play while you’re sitting outside and enjoying the day.”

Maren Morris
“Pancho & Lefty” by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson
“I feel like I’d put on some Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. They’ve got so many good ones, it’s hard to pick. Those are my summertime jams, getting into some rebel country, and ‘Pancho & Lefty’ is a classic.”

Canaan Smith
“Ride” by Twenty One Pilots
“Memorial Day screams ‘summer is finally here!’ This song’s the perfect blend of lawn-chair chill and cannon-ball crazy.”

Luke Combs Gets 11th Number-1 with “Forever After All”

Congrats to Luke Combs – his song “Forever After All” is sitting at number-1 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart!

This is Luke’s 11th consecutive number-1 song – and the 6th track off of his deluxe album What You See Ain’t Always What You Get to capture the top spot.

After hitting number-1 Luke says, “It’s pretty crazy having this song go number-1, being the sixth number-1 off this album. It’s incredible, and it’s all thanks to the fans. We have a really great team – from management, to label, to band and crew, and we’ve been lucky that country radio has embraced us, which means the world to me. I’m forever grateful to everybody that’s helped get my songs out there. I just wanna say thanks to everybody, and I never take it for granted.”
