Show Quotes

  • “When my dad died, I went home for his memorial service and they had to have it in the gym because so many people came to it. And that’s not rare there. People care.” Brandy Clark
  • “[The characters on the album] are all based on somebody in some capacity. They’re composites. There’s only one song on the record that I wrote completely alone, so a lot of those character composites are coming from co-writers. People that they know and that they talk about. That’s one of the great things about collaboration—you’re bringing all of those colors together to make this piece of art.” Brandy Clark
  • “No, I think it’s the dad that ends up in the ditch! I’ll just keep it there. It wasn’t my dad.” Brandy Clark responding to Jim’s question, “Which character is as close to the actual person as you knew them? Is it the mother?”
