Garth Brooks to Perform the Final Show at Original Home of “Austin City Limits”

Garth Brooks will bid goodbye to Studio 6A—the longtime home of Austin City Limits—with a concert on May 24.

Farewell to Studio 6A: An Evening with Garth Brooks will be the final performance on the stage that served as the original home of Austin City Limits, the longest-running music series on television.

After more than 50 years on the University of Texas Austin campus, Austin City Limits is moving to a new home on the Austin Community College Highland Campus this fall. The larger facility will be a modern, state-of-the-art broadcast studio, as well as a community space that will allow Austin PBS to create new initiatives.

A limited number of individual seat packages—starting at $2,500—are available. All proceeds from the event will benefit Austin PBS’s Moving Forward capital campaign to support funding for the new facilities.

Garth has made two Austin City Limits appearances in Studio 6A. He first appeared on the program in 1990, during Season 15, before taking the stage a decade later to close ACL’s 25th anniversary season.

Ashley McBryde Packs It All For Her Tour

Ashley McBryde’s This Town Talks tour gets rolling next month in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Then for the next 7 months she’ll be crisscrossing this nation playing shows from Georgia to Montana and everywhere in between.

So, with all that travel, and different locations, packing for a tour can present some challenges. Ashley shares one basic piece of advice when it comes to preparing for the road, “At first, learning how to pack for on tour…I really didn’t do a good job. I guess maybe I thought I was leaving for summer camp. So, I would spend a couple of weeks where I overpacked, and a couple of weeks where I under packed. Just let me tell you…if you have to choose between the two – overpack. You can put those clothes away when you get back.”
